Footnote :- There is some discrepancy about Annie's married name and surname. According to recent information, she was the eldest of six children and her maiden name was indeed Dixon. She seems to have lived a colourful life. She was married for the first time in 1904 and her husband's name was William Henry Skelsy, with whom she had three daughters (Maud Winifred. Rose Mary and Edith E.).

Around the time of William Henry's birth in 1924, William Alfred and Annie were married for the first time in the name of Carness (another mispelling), thus William Henry's surname, (although on the marriage and birth certificates Annie uses the name Elizabeth Annie and that her maiden name as Fisher, I believe was because the decree nisi from the fisrt marriage was not absolute). When Edward was born, his mother Annie's maiden name was given as Dixon. William and Annie renewed their vows in 1964.

I have ben told by their grandaughter Dawn Hellard, that Annie had been on the "Halls", had been in the "Rag Trade", owned a B&B and run a fruit and vegetable shop. The two later items were both in Southampton. Recent research confirms the B&B and the greengrocer's shop.
